The Arts

Every one of us has been affected by the disruption to learning. Some students found learning from home enabled them to produce better work; for many, this was not the case. I would like to take a moment to give credit to our senior Arts students. None of our curriculum was designed for remote learning from the beginning. Personally, I found some classes easier to adapt than others; the Visual Arts for me were the most challenging. Yet still our talented senior Arts students pushed on, buoyed by the support of their teachers.

I have not been able to see all the outcomes of our senior Arts students, but what I have seen of the Year 12 Studio Arts, VCD and Media has been very impressive. I want to congratulate the senior students for their perseverance during lockdown, while making do with the materials they had access to and managing multiple digital platforms to get some help and feedback. How we appreciated being able to work face-to-face (or should that be mask-to-mask) when we came back to school.

I want to thank each of the Year 12 Arts teachers for going way past the call of duty to get our students through: James Chew, Donna Nevard, Toby Wilkins, Kaitlyn Trollope and Grace De Blasio.

As our Year 12 Studio Arts and VCD students were unable to have an end-of-year exhibition, please enjoy the selection of artworks produced by our amazing Year 12 students.
