RAISE Mentoring Graduates

The school would like to congratulate the successful Year 8 RAISE Mentoring Graduates of 2020. The group of 14 did a tremendous job of navigating the program remotely and making the most of the opportunity to engage with their community mentor. We look forward to inviting a new group of students in 2021 as RAISE candidates.

Wellbeing Team 2021

We are excited that our Wellbeing Team will continue with our counsellors Colin Osborn and Tiffany Casey and wellbeing leader Felicity Shiel-Jones.  Felicity Cronan and Sharen Lui will continue as our visiting psychologists in Term 1.

We are sad to be losing our long term visiting psychologists Jeff Edmunds and Apurva Nargundkar next year as they have exciting new prospects with their private clinic. Jeff has been working with Box Hill High School for 8 years and has supported many of our students throughout their school journey.

AP was a student herself at Box Hill High School and returned to do her placement here. She went on to work within our team and most recently as a visiting psychologist.

We are sad to lose such genuine and supportive members of our community but wish them a bright future.

Summer Break Wellbeing

In 2011, Martin Seligman introduced the PERMA framework, with each of the five elements contributing to enhanced overall wellbeing. Since then, PERMA has evolved to PERMAH with the addition of ‘H’ referring to health. BHHS endorses the principles of Positive Education which are based around this model.

The summer holidays provides our families the opportunity to focus on enhancing our ‘Health’ including:

  • Nutrition
  • Sleep and relaxation
  • Physical exercise and activity.

We encourage our students and their families to re-nourish after a really tough year by eating nutrisiously, prioritising good sleep routines and sharing in the benefits of outdoor activities and exercise alongside friends and family

Wellbeing Hub - Term 4 Focus for Carers & Parents

Take away strategies for parents – back to basics by:

  1. Connecting with your child by being active together or sharing in healthy meal preparation.
  2. Gratitude by taking notice of the simple things that give you a little joy each day and share that with your child.
  3. Practice kindness over Christmas and embrace new experiences to keep learning and role model a growth mindset.
