Student Leadership

Student Representative Council

The 2020 Box Hill High School SRC returned to weekly meetings in Term 4 where the focus turned to organising the rather complex processes involved in selecting the students who were to be the 2021 SRC. At the beginning of November, a form was posted on Compass inviting all interested students to outline why they would want to be their year level’s SRC Representative.

Nearly 40 responses were received from students across all years voicing their enthusiasm, experience and ideas for future SRC initiatives and projects. From there, two forms were created, one with the junior applicants and a second with the seniors. They were released on Compass where students were given the power to elect their 2021 representatives. The outcome was 24 students being successful in their applications and given the opportunity to promote projects they feel to be important in 2021 as a part of the thriving BHHS SRC!

These SRC members will also be joined by additional 2021 Year 7 members who will be given the opportunity to apply for the BHHS SRC early next year.

We invite the school community to join us in congratulating all of our Student Council Representatives for 2021!

  • Junior School Representatives: Ayanna Singh, Cammie Kennedy, Irene Philip, Nate Thomas, Noor Ayaz, Sabrina Lee, Sujayani Sinha, Tara Fox, Tsifira Jawahar, Ved Jathar, Victoria Taylor, and Zahra Blake
  • Senior School Representatives: Ashton Kok, Cheryl Wang, Chloe Tran, Cynthia Chan, Felix Sun, Jackson Zhong, Jessica Tran, Mary Zhong, Nina Boyce, Owen Ji, Ryan Xia, Shania Desouza

House Competition

Although we were unable to celebrate House Champion’s Day in the traditional way this year, we were still able to acknowledge some great achievements! Many students showed resilience throughout the year by participating in various events and challenges for which they earned house points, so we’d like to take this opportunity to recognise the top house points winners in each house for 2020. Congratulations to:

  • Niharika Singh (8I) of Green House for earning 210 points
  • Anouk Harper (9Z) and Nathaniel Thomas (7Z) who each earned 330 points this year for Blue House
  • Tanvi Mishra (8C) of Yellow House for earning 360 points
  • Noor Ayaz (7H) for winning an impressive 500 points for Red House!

We’d also like to recognise BHHS staff members who earned the most points for their houses this year. They are:

  • Mr Howlett - 230 points for Green House
  • Ms McQueen - 250 points for Red House
  • Ms Pearson - 280 points for Red House
  • Mr Dobson - 340 points for Red House
  • Ms Young - 430 points for Yellow House

And of course, we can’t wrap-up the year without announcing the final House ladder results for 2020:

1st place: BLUE HOUSE - 23932 points

2nd place: Yellow House - 22488 points

3rd place: Red House - 21556 points

4th place: Green House - 19599 points

We’d also like to say a big “Thank you and good luck!” to our outgoing 2020 House Captains who did their best to serve the school during a very difficult year. Best wishes to Nitika Mittal and Jessica Bajwa (Blue House), Molly Keogh and Nick Ryan Lee (Yellow House), Alfie Williams and Roshni Bedi (Red House), and Jaidyn Nip, Elizabeth Lim and Brandon Yip (Green House).
