REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
Lucas M from 6-8 and Zahli B from 6-7 did the Remembrance day service this year.
On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, people around Australia stop and remember the Australian men and women who have fought, suffered and died in times of war and conflict.
Our flag is now being lowered to half-mast as a sign of respect.
Since Federation in 1901, Australian service personnel have served in many wars around the world.
Australian men and women have given their lives to ensure that the things we hold dear as Australians would endure for future generations.
We still believe that peace is possible and we continue to work towards this goal.
Today is our opportunity to remember and to honour these people.
We will now have one minute’s silence while the Last Post is played.
Lucas read out:
In Flanders’ fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders’ fields.

Congratulations to Mia C (4-29) for having her work recently published in the Italian newspaper Il Globo last month. Mia attends the Victorian School of Language in Brunswick each Saturday from 9- 12:30pm to study Italian. Due to COVID restrictions, she has continued to participate via Zoom classes since the beginning of Term 2. Last term, the students were asked to retell the story “Una Zuppa di Sasso” (translation, “A Stone Soup”). Mia’s creative retell of the story was selected to be published.
2021 PPPS Prep ‘In School’ Transition Visit
With the easing of COVID restrictions, our newest members of the PPPS community, the 2021 prep students, were permitted to visit their new school. During this two week period, all enrolled preps will have the opportunity to come to school.
On arrival they were met by Mrs Weston and Mrs Campbell who dressed up especially for the occasion.
They excitedly came inside.
Pedro and Pearl our transition teddies were waiting to meet them in the library.
Our new preps also listened to stories and had a special visit from Bu Wishy Washy.
After completing some school familiarisation activities, they left school with a school readiness pack from their 2021 prep buddy.
Congratulations to all of our 2021 preps. The independence and enthusiasm shown was very impressive. We all had a wonderful time.
Leanne Weston and Nicole Campbell
Prep Transition
Last term during our remote learning, PPPS celebrated Science week with all year levels conducting investigations around the theme which was “Deep Blue “ the future of our oceans. We have compiled some of our students work into a short video that we would love you to check out here. https://clickv.ie/w/c9Do
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who entered the NATA Young Scientist of the Year competition. We are eagerly awaiting the results and have our fingers crossed that PPPS will have some winning students. Good luck also to the students that are taking part in The Science ICAS testing this year. We will be eagerly awaiting the results.
As always thank you all for your continued support in what has been a challenging year.
