Principal's Message
White Ribbon Day is an opportunity to bring people together – in person or online - to raise awareness and commit to action to prevent men’s violence against women.
In workplaces, schools and communities all over Australia, we’re asked to stand up, speak out and act to end gendered violence.
In remembrance of Elaine Pandilovski, our dearly missed staff member who was a victim of domestic violence earlier this year, we will now place a higher profile on the White Ribbon Campaign. In future years we will invite you to purchase a White Ribbon, however with COVID restrictions this is not possible this year.
In light of our intimate connection with just such a tragedy, we encourage you to visit the White Ribbon Australia site; https://www.whiteribbon.org.au/
Of course as part of our Respectful Relationships Program we are endeavouring to address the issues of gender and inequality and this is another voice that we can give to women who no longer have theirs. The Respectful Relationships Program is a powerful way of influencing attitudes from an early age. Of course, we will not be discussing Elaine’s death with the children.
The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is a global movement of men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. ... The campaign was intended to raise awareness about the prevalence of male violence against women, with the ribbon symbolizing "the idea of men giving up their arms".
Please reach out if you, or someone you know, needs support. Look after each other.
Family and domestic violence support:
As we reach the half way mark of term 4 with the kids back on site and loving it, we realise how much we have to be grateful for.
As a school we are grateful for the fantastic effort made by families to support their child/ren during remote learning.
We are also grateful to have students back onsite, where we can interact with them and support their learning in a more immediate way.
We also know that some families lost loved ones during the lockdown and our heartfelt wishes go out to them. The loss of a family member can be distressing at any time, let alone when you can’t be with them.
Like you, we are staying positive about the short and long term future of living in the new “COVID-safe normal”.
We are delighted to announce that six of our year 6 students have been awarded places in the Accelerated Program at Mill Park Secondary College next year.
Congratulations to Ayman, Minjun and Jade who have been accepted into the SEAL program.
Congratulations to Elle and Riel who are joining the ACCELERATED ENGLISH program.
Congratulations to Nimai who will join the STEM program.
We are incredibly proud of these students and their achievements and wish them every success.
Take care,
Claire
