Level 5/6

It continues to be a busy, but productive time for our wonderful Year 5/6 students.

We have been busy learning about democracy and government in Australia, through watching excerpts from the ABC documentary ‘The House’ with Annabel Crabb. Did you know there is a 2km tube in parliament house that sends sealed documents from one location to another!! In Mathematics, students have been developing their skills with fractions, decimals and percentages.

In Writing, Year 5 students have completed writing their leadership letters. Rewardingly, teachers discovered that some students are incredibly modest about their vast array of talents, and actually needed encouragement to paint a realistic picture of how amazing they are! Our students have begun the process of writing a buddy book, for We are continuing to enjoy reading Once by Morris Gleitzman, and did some research about what caused him to write the story.

Our Grade 6 students have begun their Family Life sessions which we hope has opened up discussions at home. Year 5 students have been participating in an Ultimate Frisbee championship, organised by Mr Sacchetta. Simultaneously Year 6 students have been making a video and practicing their graduation dance with the irrepressible Mr Street. Let me give you a heads up: it’s going to look awesome!
