Presentation Assemblies

With some relaxing of the COVID restrictions we are now able to have Presentation Assemblies for Stages or Year levels. After careful discussion with the Leadership Team and staff we are opting to go with Year level assemblies so that we can fit them in the hall and still have parents attend. Our concern is with stages we would need to be outside and if it is overly hot or wet we then can't fit all the parents in the hall. Two parents will be able to attend each assembly and we will open a booking process through Compass prior to the events for parents to book in to the assemblies.

While physical distancing is not required between students we do have COVID restrictions to meet regarding parents attending. These restrictions include:

  • All attendees (students, parents and staff) are to be free from flu-like symptoms;
  • Seating must be 1.5 metres between non-household members;
  • All parents must remain seated;
  • Hand sanitiser will be available at the entry, exit and in bathrooms;
  • All parents should not access any area outside the designated event and must leave promptly at the end of the event.

Year 6 will have their Presentation Assembly on Wednesday 9th December, which will be followed by their final school Mass (parents are able to attend both). When they return to school they will have a special luncheon (Students only).

Kindergarten to Year 5 assemblies will be held on Tuesday 15th December and each of their assemblies will commence with a class performance of an item they have been learning in choir (there will be no singing). Times for each of these assemblies will go out on Compass once we are sure of our timing to present and clean the hall after each assembly.

Semester 2 Reports

Student Reports will be released via Compass to parents early in Week 8.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s report please make an appointment to discuss it with their classroom teacher before the end of the school year.

The end of the year, is a time when results and reports are topical and it is a good idea for students to reflect on their approach to school. Not every student can achieve the best marks or grades, but every student can achieve the best marks they are capable of, their own personal best. By focusing more on improving learning, and gaining deeper understanding, rather than just on marks, students often find their results improve significantly. The effort box on a report is just as important as the grade your child receives.

Staffing 2021

Yesterday Mrs Reinke, Fr Roel and I interviewed applicants for teaching positions at St Mary's in 2021. By our next newsletter I will be able to announce all our staffing for 2021.
