Classroom News - Year 4

Mrs Ross and Mr Norrie

It's been busy in Year 4! In Religion this week we have been sharing, and enjoying, prayer services that the children have created. They worked in small groups to choose a theme and write prayers, find Bible readings and hymns that relate and then lead whole class prayer. The prayer services have been very special - reverent, engaging and thoughtful.

In English we have been focusing on poetry. We have been reading, analysing and writing our own poems. The children are working towards creating their own poetry book, involving writing, editing, publishing and illustrating. The children are all engaged and enjoying their tasks.

In Maths we are learning about 3D Objects. The children are investigating the names and the features of a variety of prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones and spheres. They have enjoyed sketching and creating these objects with plasticine and pipe cleaners, as well as paper nets.

Our Geography focus, at the moment is Protecting Places. The children are learning about our responsibilities of caring for our world. The unit links perfectly with our principle of Stewardship of God's Creation, and fits with the beautiful weather and surroundings that we are all enjoying at the moment.

Some of the magnificent Tongue twisters from Yr 4

' Silly Sam saw Sally sell sea shells by the sea shore, while the sun shone on the silly salmon when it was a Sunday morning, in the sunshine.'

'The quenching queen questioned the questioning quacking quoll, while falling through a quagmire with his friend quokka, who was eating quicksand.'

A Meerkat munched a mighty Minnie mouse who morphed a Maserati with milk.  Magically a magnificent magnet monkey made a mad monkey come to meet the mighty mouse munching meerkat.'
