We continue to work on our poems in English and have been practicing writing acrostic and cinquain poems. It is great to see all students giving it their best and coming up with some great ideas. 3O English worked together to create a cinquain poem on everyone's favourite sometimes snack, chocolate.
Chocolate
Sweet, sticky, melts.
Snap! Crunch! Oozing! munch! Chew.
Dreaming of eating all day long

Last week we finished our unit on operations and spent some time outside using our knowledge to play a range of games. It was great to see all students involved and having a go at challenging themselves. Our focus in Maths this week has been on learning about Mass. We have been busy learning about formal and informal units of measurement and practicing using the correct language when comparing the weight of objects. Next week we change our focus to learning all about angles.
Year 3 have finished their unit on saints and saw many wonderful projects on a range of saints. Each child chose a saint that they would like to research and created a presentation to share their new knowledge with the class. It was great to see everyone put in some much effort into their presentations and to learn about different learning saints.
This week saw us start our new unit on Advent. This is a very special and exciting time of year in the lead up to Christmas, with all students showing great interest in learning more about this significant time in the Catholic Church.
Safety is extremely important and Year 3 has been busy learning about all the ways they can keep themselves and others safe. We have focused on road, water, walking, and around the home safety, what is bullying and how to be an upstander, online safety, and the importance of recognising distractions and how to avoid them. To practice our understanding we have engaged in role plays, created safe walking maps around Armidale, and use online games to provide us with different safety situations that we needed to react to.
Although we have been working very hard this term, we have made sure that we continue to have fun along the way. The students enjoyed getting to learning about Remembrance Day and getting to let their creative sides out with their Ode to Remembrance poppy artworks. P.E is always an exciting time as the students get to spend time outside with their firmed s and learning new fundamental movement skills before they put them to use in games. Week 5 was national NAIDOC week, and to help us celebrate, we worked together to create a collaborative artwork that hands proudly on display within our classrooms.
