Principal's Report
With only two more sleeps until the big day, the school is buzzing with excitement! Although it's an exciting time, it is also a very busy time for our dedicated volunteers. Thank you again to everyone who has put their hand up to do something to ensure our Fete is a huge success.
2020 Student Voice Team
Congratulations to our 2020 Student Voice team who were announced at Assembly on 2 March by the 2020 Year 6 Student Voice representatives.
YEAR 4
YEAR 5
YEAR 6
All Year 4 - 6 students (excluding Student Leaders) were invited to nominate and names were drawn out of a hat if there was more than one nominee per class.
District & Division Swimming
Congratulations to the 27 students in Years 4 - 6 who qualified for District Swimming and to Clementine C (4A) and Millie B (6C) who progressed to the Divisional level.
Please see the 'PE & Sports News' page of this newsletter for a full report.
Weekly Assembly
Each week many students speak in front of an audience of approximately 750 staff and students - something that many adults struggle to do. I would like to applaud our Student Leaders on the wonderful job they are doing.
Our Prep Flag Bearers are also doing a wonderful job as are those who are called to the front of assembly to receive various awards and certificates.
Family Involvement
Family involvement is a key feature of our school and it is wonderful to see parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles getting involved. It is widely known that a collaborative approach results in positive attitudes and educational outcomes for our students.
Curriculum Day - 6 March
The Mathematics Professional Development day facilitated by Mr Michael Minas on our recent Curriculum Day was very well received. With a focus on 'challenging problem solving tasks' and 'open-ended problem solving', teachers explored ways to enhance student learning and engage all students, from the most reluctant to those who are extremely confident problem solvers.
Accident and Ambulance Cover
I would like to remind parents that The Department of Education and Training does not provide student accident insurance or ambulance cover. Parents may wish to obtain this cover, depending on their health insurance arrangements and any other personal considerations.
Looking Ahead...
Don't forget to ride, scoot or walk to school tomorrow for Ride2School Day, even if it's just part of the way.
I also look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at the ThinkUKnow Parent Cyber Safety & Security Presentation on Monday (16 March, 6.00 - 7.30pm).
