Mind, Body & Us
With great pride, we are excited to announce a brand-new Specialist Program in 2023 focused on student wellbeing, led by Alana Essa and Monique Kelly. ‘Mind, Body and Us’ will strengthen the culture of respect and equality throughout our school community and directly address students’ wellbeing needs as individuals, learners and future citizens. To provide each learner at our school with increased opportunity to reach their full potential, they will be learning mental, physical and social wellbeing strategies that promote health and safety at school and beyond.
Prep to Year Two
The students from Prep to Year Two will engage in the Mind, Body and Us program to build the foundational skills to support a healthy wellbeing. They will learn mindfulness techniques to calm themselves and connect with their thoughts. Students will participate in a range of games to learn about healthy movements and promote exercise by having fun and taking care of their bodies. Through these experiences and creative collaborative tasks, the students will engage in asking each other questions, listening to others' ideas, and building their own confidence within group situations.
Year Three to Six
Students have been introduced to the Mind, Body and Us program. This term they will take part in learning about their Mental, Physical and Social wellbeing and how it impacts them. Students will participate in engaging experiences such as meditation, physical activities and collaborative tasks. They will develop a range of skills and strategies to help build and support their overall health and wellbeing. Across the term students will have the opportunity to provide Student Voice ideas to build on strategies that can support their Minds, their Body and their social interactions.
