NAPLAN Assessments

As parents may already be aware, the dates for NAPLAN for 2023 have changed. The test window will now occur from Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March (Week 8 to 10, Term 1). Teachers in Years 3 and 5 have been busily working with the students to support their preparation before the assessments begin.

Students are not expected to study for NAPLAN. As parents, you can support your child simply by reassuring them that NAPLAN is a part of their school program and reminding them to simply do their best. Some familiarisation and explanation of NAPLAN is useful to help students understand and be comfortable with the format of the tests. Teachers will ensure students are familiar with the types of questions in the tests and will provide appropriate support and guidance.

For further details on NAPLAN assessments, please read the attached pdf:

For parents who are interested in looking at example NAPLAN questions, the public demonstration website can be accessed here:

MY SCHOOL UPDATE

The annual update to the https://www.myschool.edu.au/ website provides all schools with valuable information that can be viewed by staff, parents and the wider community. To view the full school profile, please head to the website and search for St Edward's.

Our school enrolments continue to grow, with the school catering for 555 students by the end of 2022 which had grown from 524 at the end of 2021. This growth represents the feedback that we have had from the community who value the quality of teaching and learning that is offered by St Edward's Primary School.

Another cause for celebration is the school's NAPLAN results for 2022. When comparing St Edward's to schools with students from similar backgrounds, our students consistently perform above and well above in almost all domains across Year 3 and Year 5. This represents the impressive efforts from all students and staff, and recognises the 'value add' that St Edward's School is able to provide for all our students.
