Principal Reflections

A Short Message from Dr Jake

Dear Parents & Friends,

Yesterday, we embarked on our Lenten journey with the Ash Wednesday mass. As we approach this season of reflection and self-improvement, let us not forget to consider our role as members of the diverse human family.

While repentance and self-improvement are important, let us also use this time to explore our connection to others and recognise the value and worth of every individual. As parents, we can model this behaviour for our children by embracing the beauty of our differences and recognising the common desires we all share for life.

In today's world, challenges extend beyond politics and society and are also spiritual in nature. As Carl Jung noted, the modern world suffers from a lack of spiritual connection. To grow spiritually, morally, and ethically, we must approach everyone with a positive attitude and focus on what is true, holy, good, and virtuous.

In her book, Seeking the Sacred: Transforming Our View of Ourselves and One Another, Stephanie Dowrick eloquently captures this sentiment by reminding us that when we view life as sacred, our differences become less intimidating. We all share fundamental needs for food, shelter, health, safety, happiness, purpose, and inspiration. Let us use this season of Lent to reflect on our spirituality and rediscover the strengths within us.

As parents, let us appreciate our existence and show gratitude and respect towards ourselves and others during this season. Remember that words are meaningless without corresponding actions, and we have the opportunity to model the values of love, respect, and kindness to our children.

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us as we are only too happy to help.

Peace & Best Wishes
