INDIGENOUS ALLSTARS EXPERIENCE

Congratulations and well done to KCC and Mount Erin Boarding School staff member, Jody Siegwalt, on his appointment to the squad of administrators and stewards that looked after the Indigenous Allstars Rugby League team who recently played against the Maori Allstars in New Zealand. The two teams played each other on the 11th February in a preseason game, and after an entertaining eighty minutes, the Indigenous Allstars prevailed with a score of 28 to 24.

The excerpt below is from Jody himself and details some of the activities he was involved in. Included are some team photos.

“From the 4th of February - 12th of February, I was a part of the NRL INDIGENOUS ALLSTARS staff who went to Rotorua, New Zealand, to play against the MAORI ALLSTARS. My role was assisting with the day to day running of the camp, which included gear steward, setting up the team room, helping with injury management and training preparation (strapping), setting up/pack up of training drills and equipment, game day setup of the change room and game day prep, which included strapping and massage. During the game I was in charge of the bench for off field injury management and hydration.

The whole week was an unbelievable experience, which included a lot of cultural experiences and interaction.  I will always remember these experiences and am keen to share what I have learned with our community. I would like to thank Chris Browne, John Bussenschutt and the Mt Erin Boarding School community for allowing me to have the time off to experience such a fantastic opportunity.”
