Visual Arts

Students in Prep have begun the term recognising what is unique about themselves and what makes them different to others. We also discussed the significance of belonging to the Roxburgh Park Primary School community. Each student was asked to draw a self-portrait using only one colour (each class was assigned a different colour) which will then be used to collaborate into a whole school display.

The Preps will begin exploring the Primary Colours and complete various tasks, incorporating the primary colours blue, red and yellow. I look forward to an innovative and enjoyable first term in Visual Arts!

Students in Years One and Two will have the chance to participate in a range of learning activities in Visual Art throughout Term 1. This term focuses on imagination and creativity.

Students will explore with pencils and acrylic paint while studying Surrealism and responding to contemporary British Mexican artist Leonora Carrington's artworks and wonderful children's books.

Student in Years Three and Four have begun the term  recognising what is unique about themselves and what makes them different to others. We also discussed the significance of belonging to the Roxburgh Park Primary School community. Each student was asked to draw a self-portrait using only one colour (each class was assigned a different colour) which will then be used to collaborate into a whole school display.

Following on from this assignment, Year Three and Four students will be learning about Pop Art (inspired by artist Andy Warhol) and create some fun examples including emojis, creative name labels and handprints.

Grade 5 & 6 students have been enjoying being back in the Art room space and reacquainting themselves with the expectations and materials. So far we have completed small coloured portraits to contribute to the full school displays that will go up in the junior and senior corridors.

Students in these grades will focus on their drawing skills over the term, exploring contemporary artists.
