Year 4 Report

We are all looking forward to a wonderful year of learning ahead! 

Reading

In Reading, students will learn how to use strategies which build proficient readers. They will further develop their understanding of independent reading processes and procedures. Students will explore ways to respond to reading, their reading preferences, and will have opportunities to discuss texts in depth.

Writing

In Writing, students will be exploring poetry, where they will study a variety of mentor texts. They will identify the text structure and language features of poetry, and use this knowledge to create their own poems. Students will work through the writing stages in order to publish their work and share with an audience.

Inquiry

Year 4 students will be exploring an inquiry unit called Healthy Me. Students will interpret health messages and discuss the influences on healthy and safe choices. They will develop their understanding of the benefits of being fit and physically active.  

Maths

In Maths, students will be developing their place value, addition and subtraction skills. Our Maths lessons aim to engage the students learning of concepts and skills through games, hands on activities and technology. There are opportunities for students to participate in whole group and partner work, as well as focused small groups. Students will be using a variety of problem solving skills to identify and continue number patterns. Students will learn about a variety of strategies to help them solve addition and subtraction problems.

REMINDERS

• School starts at 8:50am
• Hats must be worn at all times when outside during Term 1
