Year 3 Report

Term 1

Welcome, Grade Three parents.

We are all very excited about working with your children this year. We start the year with the school's 'Start Up' program, ensuring that the students and their teacher collaboratively create classroom expectations for their learning. This term, we will continue supporting your children in their journey to discover what makes them effective learners. In addition, we will provide further support through the Social Emotional Learning program.

In Reading, we will focus on decoding unknown words, maintaining fluency, developing understanding and interpreting questions. We will explore various persuasive expositions to familiarise students with the relevant structures and language features. In Writing, students will use this knowledge to create persuasive texts on topics of their own choice.

In Mathematics, our main topic will be Place Value, where the students will focus on recognising, representing and ordering numbers to 9,999. They will also build mathematical reasoning skills by engaging in problem-solving activities.

Our Inquiry topic this term is Health and Well-being. Our question for discussion will be, "What things can I do to stay happy and healthy?" The students will inquire into how they can live healthy, safe and active lifestyles and encourage others to do so.

Our Social and Emotional Learning Program will continue to be integrated into everything we do, helping the children understand their own emotions, recognise the emotional state of others and develop their empathy.

Please feel free to contact your child's teacher if you have any queries.

We look forward to meeting you soon at the Meet and Greet.
