Italian
Welcome back to school and we hope you had an enjoyable holiday. Term 1 is set to be an exciting and busy term for Italian.
Prep students will be exposed to the Italian language during Term 1 through the story of Pinocchio and other fables. Also, through music, and chants, students will learn greetings, numbers, and names of body parts. In addition, students will make their own Pinocchio puppets.
Students in grades One and Two will learn the names of various animals, greetings, colours, and how to express likes and dislikes in Italian during Term 1. Students will also practise their pronunciation through song and role-playing.
During Term 1, students in grades Three and Four will continue to use greetings, ask and respond to questions about themselves and others, and write short sentences. They will study words related to their environment as well as methods to describe their physical appearance. Chants, songs, and role-playing will assist students in gaining confidence in their oral pronunciation.
Students in grades Five and Six will focus on utilising greetings, ask and answer questions about themselves, and express likes and dislikes during Term 1. Simple sentences about family relationships and personal descriptions will be written by them. Chants, songs, and games will help students acquire confidence in their oral output.
