Performing Arts

2023 sees the return of Performing Arts, and we are thrilled to be offering this opportunity to students for the full year alongside Visual Arts.

So far, all students have been reacquainting themselves with the Performing Arts room and expectations and rediscovering a love for Drama, Dance and Music. Students have discussed environmentalism and participated in rescuing their 2022 books from landfill, instead preparing them to receive new content in 2023!

In term 1, all students will learn about Drama, acting and pretending. All groups have participated in team building and trust exercises to aid their transition into new grades with different children. Students have enjoyed working together and learning about what happens when we don't. There have been rich discussions about trust and different types of 'feeling safe' when in a classroom and particularly in a Performing Arts setting. The children have also contributed to discourse about being a "good audience" and how to support and show respect to performers and their fellow audience members.

Throughout the term, the children will practice their acting skills and explore respectful ways to express emotions, linking in with our Mindfull Aus program. Each grade will participate in a short Drama assessment where they put on small group performances for their class.
