School Advisory Council

 SAC Meeting.  15 February 2023

First School Advisory Council of the year and a great start to the year. Firstly a very warm welcome to Jessie Jacobs andTahnee Bell and welcome back to Assunta Galbraith, Natalie de Morton, Megan Barber, Monica O’Shannassy and Father John McGinty. The SAC aims to be a forum for sharing information from the school directive and parents to provide input, feedback and share and information.

We discussed quite a number of issues but among the key ones to mention is the new logo for Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, Child Safety and new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement including better conditions for teachers and improved remuneration which are very positive. It was fantastic hearing how Monica O’Shannassy managed to organise quite a bit of improvement to the school through the holidays like painting, lighting, roof repairs and network improvements. An architect has also been hired to fix the wall and assigned to improve our school. The architect will get feedback from the student council and parents to set goals and projects to work on for all of us to fundraise to achieve a better school. There will be a new marketing strategy with a virtual tour and testimonials from parents.

The fete is a big job and many thanks to Tahnee and Assunta. We are looking forward to parents and children experiencing or re-experiencing our amazing community and getting immersed in it.

Last year’s graduation was the start of a new school tradition with the Grade 6 students running the canteen every fortnight and las they earnt about profit and loss and used their math skills to handle money. They learnt to save and that little by little they could reach goals. In their case a photo booth and a DJ for the night. I am sure this year will be equally successful and look forward to working with the Grade 6 students.

There are always so many things that are talked about and I could have probably written about, but please anyone that needs to contact me please feel free to do so. We all look forward to a positive and constructive year ahead.

Kindest regards,
