Senior Report (5/6)

Wominjeka from the GUMNUT COMMUNITY - Jean, Tim, Tom, Alyce, & Annalisa

Geography Inquiry

For this term, students are researching

a topic through the lens of geography. After seeing the passion that the students had for a variety of topics, students were allowed to pick a topic that they could: identify, describe, explain, compare, collect and record data, and demonstrate mapping skills through. The 5/6s have developed questions such as: "Why was the Bubonic Plague so deadly?" and "Why was the Eiffel Tower built?" These questions will guide their research. Moving forward, the students will incorporate this with their literacy unit, writing and publishing an information report on their topic.

Kids' Voice

This term, Senior students have been enabled to take responsibility for tracking their learning. At the end of various sessions, students place a post it with their name under: Stuck, Thinking, Learnt, and Practising. These are four important stages with learning new content and skills; through noticing what stage they are at the students can take more agency in their academic journey while communicating that journey to their teachers.

For the first time in our short history, Wollert Primary School students have been participating in Interschool Sports. Our athletes are split up into three teams: AFL, European Handball, and netball. Students had the opportunity to explore all three sports before deciding on a team. We have been working on good sportsmanship this term as we learn and grow in new sports. Go WPS!
