Middle Report (3/4)
Wominjeka from the GUMNUT COMMUNITY - Tien, Phoebe, Tayla, Claire & Zoe
We have welcomed a new Teacher into our Middle Community.
We would like to introduce you to Zoe!
Hello WPS! My name is Zoe James. I am excited to join the Middle Community and jump into teaching 3/4D! I look forward to teaching and learning with the students at Wollert Primary School and getting to know you all. Previously, I worked as an ES at a primary school in Greenvale. I love all things like DC/Marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter. I also love collecting new house plants at Bunnings! My passion is to create a welcoming, safe and positive learning environment that encourages JOY and CURIOSITY!
For our inquiry topic this term, we are focussing on Geography. We asked our students to participate in a class brainstorm to share their prior knowledge on what they know about the subject Geography. Students used a KWL chart that told their teachers what they know and what they wanted to learn. We used this information to map out our Geography links and provide opportunity for students to take ownership of how their final project will look like. Some students have begun planning and have shared their ideas such as: create a re-enactment of a natural disaster, cooking food from different countries and how to teach and learn a new language. We look forward to sharing the accomplishments with all families.
What is the student mailbox about?
To promote student voice, the Middle community has introduced a mailbox in each classroom for students to provide feedback to Teachers, share their learning and ideas at the end of our lessons. When we receive our student feedback, we are then able to make the adjustments for teaching and learning.
