Our Learning Story
Wominjeka from Leanne in Libby's absence
Learning Story Conferences provided parents/guardians with the opportunity to celebrate learning growth across the year. This meeting is an opportunity for our teachers to share each student's literacy and numeracy strengths and learning goals. These goals are formed using assessment data and teacher observations to ensure every child is working towards an achievable next point of learning in Numeracy and Literacy.
You can find your child's personalised learning goal on their Compass profile under 'Individual Education Plan'
This term the Learning Story Conferences will be held over two days at the end of the school day. Tuesday 13th June or Wednesday 14th June, parents will be able to schedule a time to meet with their child's Homeroom Teacher to discuss progress, effort and achievement. A Compass Notification will be sent in the coming weeks when the booking schedule is open, so keep a look out for this.
PROGRESSIVE REPORTING
Why wait until the end of Term 2 to understand what your child has achieved and where their next point of learning is. We work to share your child's progress in a consistent and frequent way through Seesaw. Seesaw delivers Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) your child has completed, which indicates your child's ability and effort during these assessment pieces. Seesaw also captures learning through pictures, drawings, videos and many other ways, painting a picture of your child as learning is occurring. This approach means that you should understand how your child has progressed before you get their report at the end of this term. The Learning Conferences will clearly communicate progress and next steps as well.
NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME
National Simultaneous Story Time is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
This year we will be reading 'The Speedy Sloth' on Wednesday 24th May at 11.00am in every class across the school. A range of fun, engaging activities will be explored also, with the joy of reading and literacy being shared together.
LEARNING STORY CONFERENCES: Times will be able to be booked on either Tuesday 13th or Wednesday 14th June after school; booking opened soon.STUDENT REPORTS: Semester 1 reports will be able to be accessed on Thursday 22nd June.
