Principal's Report
Wominjeka from Leanne
It's hard to believe we are already in Week 5 of this term. As always, there has been an enormous amount of learning and fun happening within our learning communities and our community as a whole.
WOLLERT WEBSITE LAUNCHES
To begin our term we were very excited to launch our long awaited school website. We have been working in partnership with the team at Nuttshell Graphic Design for some time. We have deliberately taken our time to build this site as a new school. Every component of our website paints a picture of our philosophy, beliefs and school culture. It also contains every bit of information you could possibly want about our school, including a virtual tour and clear step by step enrolment process. We are exceptionally proud of it and encourage you to view it by simply googling Wollert Primary School or pasting the following link in a search engine.
2024 ENROLMENTS OPEN
Term 2 is enrolment term in our school. Our 2024 Expression Of Interest for enrolment is open for all students from Prep through to Year 6. We are looking to have all enrolments confirmed by the start of Term 3 so that planning for our 2024 classes can begin. If you are currently a family of Wollert with children ready to begin in Prep next year, please enrol as soon as possible. If you know of any friends or family that are looking to begin with us in 2024, please encourage them to also begin the enrolment process. We are a zoned school and will only accept students who reside within our zone as part of our new school enrolment plan. All information can be found on our website to start this process. Alternatively, you can make contact with Carol or Jodee in our office.
PREP INFORMATION SESSION
Our 2023 Prep Information Session will be held on THURSDAY 1st JUNE for all families who have Prep students beginning with us. This session will be facilitated by Katya and Elise, our current Prep Leaders, with other staff, including myself joining. The information session will be held virtually via Webex between 7.00pm and 8.00pm, allowing families to be in the comfort of their own homes for this event. All enrolled families will receive the link via email in the coming weeks. If you are a current family who joined us in 2022 for this session, it will be very similar in content so the choice to join us again is yours.
ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE for Winter
We believe that bringing our students together regularly to hear consistent messages, learn from each other and celebrate effort and achievement is really important for our learning culture. During Term 2 and Term 3 we have assemblies scheduled fortnightly on a Monday morning from 9.15am to 9.45am. Sometimes we may come together as a school, other times we may bring cohorts (Prep, Junior, Middle, Senior) together to discuss more specific information related to each one. Cohort assemblies may or may not be in the gym and sometimes weather may play a part in us cancelling these assemblies.
Moving forward, a Compass push will be sent the Friday before to let families know about the upcoming assembly, should you wish to attend.
THE GREATEST SHAVE: A SPECIAL ASSEMBLY THIS FRIDAY at 2.45pm
Carmen, our fabulous Prep Teacher, is generously raising money for the Cancer Council and having her head shaved this coming Friday. We will have a special assembly at 2.45pm in the gym, with our community more than welcome to attend. If you are able to donate, your generosity will be very welcome on the day, to support Carmen's kind gesture and action.
Emergency Drills - Safety Practice & Videos
Each term we actively develop safety actions and plans across our school that involve all staff and students. We are mandated within our Emergency Management Plan to ensure our students and staff are as prepared as possible for unexpected emergencies that may occur.
Our emergency drills include evacuations to safety points, lockdowns inside rooms or off-site evacuations to a locally planned safety point.
This term we practised a Lockdown, explaining every part to our students so they are not fearful but are adequately prepared should we need to be.
Should your child ever come home and say they were in an evacuation or other, please know that this will be a drill only. Should a real emergency occur at school, parents will also be notified of this.
Our week of celebration leading into Mother's Day was a very special one indeed. We had our first Mother's Day Stall and Raffle which brought absolute joy to the faces of our students. These events also raised close to $4000.00 in our start to raising money for more learning spaces in our school. We are always so very grateful for our families and their generosity and kindness.
Our second 'Wonderful Women of Wollert High Tea' was super special. It was so lovely being able to bring all of our special women together to spoil them with an afternoon tea and coffee van offering beverages and treats. We hope everyone had an amazing time during this week.
2024 ENROLMENTS ARE OPEN: Please head to our website for steps to enrol or call 9002 0500 to point you in the right direction.
