Year 7 Girls Volleyball

Year 7 Girls Volleyball
On Thursday, the 8th of November, the Year 7 Girls Volleyball Team participated in the School Sport Victoria Western Metropolitan Region Volleyball Finals. The girls had been training three times a week for this tournament during lunch and were primed to make an impact.
The pool consisted of some highly ranked teams in Sirius, Carranballac and Gilson Colleges, where they displayed great skill and composure to not drop a set and win their way through to a grand final showdown with Maribyrnong Sports Academy.
The grand final turned out to be an epic match with other schools cheering on our girls. The first set was a tight contest, but the girls were able to win 21-19. The second set again came down to the wire however, we lost that one, 19-21. It came down to the deciding third set where the girls were up for majority of the time. Unfortunately, after a massive effort, the girls lost 17-19 ending their tournament and finishing in a respectful and well deserved second place in the tournament.
A huge congratulations to the girls for their effort as even the coach from Maribyrnong said that, “It was one of the best games (he) had been involved in”.
Looking forward to next year where the girls will again have the opportunity to pave their way through to the tournament and hopefully go one better.
