STEAM News

2020 promises to be another big year in STEAM. Our new Connected World subject in Year 7 is off and running. This subject will cover general ICT capabilities, but also cover coding, robotics, engineering and cybersafety topics.

In 47 days our third Space Camp to Florida and Alabama will depart. Students in years 9, 10 and 11 will visit Orlando, Florida and visit Kennedy Space Centre, do an indoor Skydive and visit Disney and Universal theme parks. Then it is off to Space Camp in Alabama for the adventure of a lifetime – living and training as a junior astronaut.

We are also kicking off our Inspiring STEM+ program for Year 9 students with a breakfast on the 17th of February. This program is run in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke, one of the world’s largest construction companies, with the aim of encouraging more women in the engineering fields.

There are lots of exciting competitions and opportunities coming up, so stay tuned for those. The STEAM room is also open on Monday and Thursday lunchtimes for anyone who would like to come along.
