Out and About the School

Book Week and Grandparents Day

On Monday 19th August we celebrated Grandparent's Day and Book Week in one SUPER event! The theme for Book Week this year was "Reading is my Secret Power". The school was overrun by colour and creativity, with every grade focusing on one of the Children's Book Council shortlisted books for 2019 and dressing up accordingly. The costumes were incredible! Special mention must also go to the staff - they embraced the theme with gusto! Grandparents, family and friends were treated to a special celebratory event in the hall followed by a beautiful morning tea in the school grounds. It was a wonderful, happy occasion and we would like to thank everyone for coming and celebrating with us.

Here are some of our favourite photos from the day (be sure to check out our Facebook Page for all the photos):

NSW Chess Tournament

Last Friday St Xavier’s had two teams represent our school at the local round of the NSW Chess tournament at South School.

The Year 6 team comprising of Lucas Sardinha, Tobias Harris, Adam Browne, and Oliver Wilson competed in the Championship category. While a Year 2 team consisting of Brae Hinchcliffe, Fynn Ellbourn, Jack Carter and Sean Gander competed in the Rookie competition.

Both teams had a great day with some outstanding results.

A special mention to Julian Schembri who also attended filling in for the Barraba team who were short a player.

Thank you to Mrs Browne and Mr Heap for supervising the children.
