Level 1/2

The end of term one is nearing and we have been very busy in levels 1 and 2!
On Fridays we have had SEDA cricket running a variety of games and activities for our students. These activities are based around hand eye coordination, ball skills and team work. These are all very important skills for our students to work on and the students are enjoying having SEDA run these activities.
The past few weeks we have been learning about the seasons. We have been talking about what months are in each season, what characteristics each season has and what a tree might look like in each season. During show and tell students shared what their favourite seasons are and why. It was lovely to hear a variety of responses.
Last week we celebrated Harmony Day. It was a lovely and very successful day! Many students wore beautiful traditional outfits, and it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss where students and their parents were born. Many grades also talked about the variety of languages that are spoken within their classes, getting students to share the word for “Hello”. In some classes, we created a Harmony day garden and did some activities around the Chinese culture; writing characters and using chopsticks. We also looked at some Indigenous Australian artwork and the colours used within them, before colouring in our own artworks. Thank you to all the parents who contributed to the Big Feast! It was very enjoyable to share a meal with the students and explore a large range of food items from a variety of cultures.
We hope all parents have had a chance to log in and see their student’s Seesaw journal, as activities and work from both classrooms and specialists are being posted. Students are beginning to take responsibility for their work, and are wanting to share things with their parents. It is great to see students being proud of their work!
