VCAL in Action 

The VCAL in Action students worked as a team to create a 'Team Picnic'.  The students had to consolidate and apply the following skills that they have been developing throughout semester 1: 

• Planning, Organisation and Communication skills (This is key focus in their Personal Development Skills subject)
• Budgeting skills (This is key focus in their Numeracy subject)
• Cooking and food safety (This is key focus in their Life Skills subject).
• Using Physical Activity as a means of connecting with others (This is key focus in their VCAL in Action Subject).

The students, Ms Chiuchiarelli and Anna, walked to Doncaster Shoppingtown to purchase their picnic ingredients. They then walked to Ruffey Lake Park to meet Mr Iape and cooked at the public barbecues. The students negotiated who would do what and were completely independent as staff supervised and praised their great initiative and organisational skills. We hope to be able to plan another excursion or incursion when we return to onsite learning.
