Year 3/4–Celebrating Learning

Mainstream
We have been learning about making predictions in Literacy. Children have made their own “smart guesses” about what will happen next in a text they are reading, by using evidence and clues from the story combined with their prior knowledge to create stronger predictions.
We have also been working on multiplication in Mathematics over the past few weeks, and have focused on using arrays to support their learning. They made some amazing displays using arrays to create their own cities. Here are some examples of the mathematical metropolises that were made!
3 and 4 Steiner
In Class 3 and Class 4, alongside their learning of sentences and predictions, students have revisited the creative writing process. Using a range of seeds, they have been encouraged to compose their own stories which have been engaging Raph and Simon. The teachers are looking forward to reading the full stories in the near future.
In Class 3 & 4 Orchestra, children continue to gain confidence and familiarity playing as part of a larger ensemble whilst visiting rhythmic exercises and creating their own songs with Caitlin.
As a part of Class 4’s Google Meets, the children are continuing to dress rehearse The Wedding of Thor in preparation for performing it online in the final week of term. In the Class 3 Google Meets, students have participated in Morning Verse and recitation of songs they’ve learnt previously.
Their understanding of multiplication and division concepts is being displayed through their ability to layout arrays and related equations. They have been doing this in an engaging way by rolling dice and spinning spinners, followed by using concrete materials and artistically creating buildings with windows.
In craft the students have been creating visually impressive insects and hair styles using natural materials. Here’s an example of the fabulous work being done with Antoinette. This is Ava Healy’s art work. Ava is in class 4 and is achieving amazing success in her education during remote learning. Well done, Ava!!
