Foundation–Celebrating Learning

Foundation Steiner

Foundation Steiner has been celebrating the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring, with stories of King Winter, Lady Spring, and the Spring Fairies. We have been paying special attention to the signs of seasonal change, developing imaginative images of Mother Nature where the whole world is alive with personality and all things can speak to each other. We have been practicing telling stories with speech bubbles and pictures, as well as making our own puppet stories.

We are developing our fine motor skills and aesthetic sense through form drawing and other artistic projects including making pom poms. We have also been exploring inclusive stories that celebrate diversity in all its forms. In maths, we have been developing our addition and subtraction skills, working with number lines, and playing games with numbers that frame the numeracy skills within an imaginative context related to our theme of Lady Spring and the Spring Fairies.

Foundation Mainstream

Foundation students have been writing recounts and poems. We’ve learnt about syllables and have begun exploring Haiku poems. We have responded to books, practiced our letter sounds and regularly read with our teachers and family.

In science we have looked at the weather: rainbows, storms and wind.

As deadly mathematicians we have added, subtracted and shared groups evenly.
