School Council

Kii TPS Community,

We hope this newsletter finds you all safe, well and coping with the demands and stresses of working from home while our children continue to learn online. This is such a difficult and trying time for everyone but as a community, hopefully we can support each other, our teachers and school leaders, but mostly our students through this extended lockdown period.

For the TPS School Council, lockdowns have meant that many of the projects we have been working on are paused for now. We still continue to meet and discuss ways of making improvements around the school, and developing various different initiatives to benefit and enhance the school, however it is a case of waiting until things begin to open up again before we can continue to move forward.

After Leon’s decision to take leave, we were happy to welcome Emma Cornish-Giles officially to the School Council, replacing Megan Noy as an elected staff member, as Megan capably stepped into the role of Executive Officer. We look forward to working with Emma, with all her knowledge and skill she brings as a member of the TPS Staff, we know she will be an asset to the Council.

Unfortunately for now, all social events on the TPS calendar have been cancelled. School Council would like to acknowledge the work put in by the members of the Social Committee who volunteer their time to plan and implement events that have so often been cancelled of late.

Below are key updates on some of the things School Council has been working on:

Kitchen garden Project – Council continues to explore this project and hopes to move forward with it in the near future. Stay tuned!

Buildings and Grounds – Several upgrades to facilities are being investigated to ensure the school remains a safe place for all. Upgrades to emergency lighting and some of the toilets, as well as other minor issues, are at the forefront of our minds, and plans are being works through to attend to these as soon as possible.

School Uniforms – Council continues to liaise with PSW School Uniform to provide school delivery and collection services onsite at TPS. Again, due to COVID restrictions this is an on-going situation and we will bring you more information when restrictions ease

If you are interested in getting involved around the school, there are several sub-committees everyone is welcome to attend. TPS Sub-Committees are – Finance, Education, Environment, Social, Communications, OSHC and Master Plan and Grounds.
