Remote Learning

We entered our state's sixth lockdown, so student’s took their creative journey home! Our first lockdown project was a drawing activity titled ‘Draw the Other Half’. Students used their observational skills to replicate the original image with greylead pencils. This activity got a great response from the children as they challenged their drawing skills. We then went on to explore drawing and printing with food based dyes such as tea and coffee. Students were pleasantly surprised to see that everyday, readily available items, could produce such incredible effects.

Book week was celebrated by students becoming illustrators to redesign the front and back cover of a chosen book.

The last activity to date has been to create nature based insects. With the onset of spring children were encouraged to get outdoors and forage for plants and leaf matter that would inspire them to create insect based forms. These works have been extraordinary as the images below show.

I have provided a link to a video of nature based artist Raku Inoue, that you may also find inspiring.

Spring is a fantastic time for all families to get out and explore nature.

We have begun planning for our term four Arts Festival so keep an eye out for information coming through Compass.

Looking forward to working with all you again,
