Mr Anthony Kelly & Mrs Caroline Chapman

Last week Mr Kelly was surprised to receive this wonderful De La Salle postcard which is dated 11 September 1910, four years after the opening of the De La Salle College. Mr Kelly received this postcard from his cousin and it was addressed to his grandfather George Kelly from George's cousin Jim.

In the correspondence, Jim asked George how the lambing season was and George must have been quite young at the time as it was addressed to a Master George Kelly. The card was sent to 'Brockley' via Guyra where George grew up. He later moved to 'Tilbuster' to manage the station. George lived across the road from Tilbuster in later years at 'Gympie' where Mr Kelly's father Sam, brother Edgar and sister Audrey grew up and attended Puddledock school. George was a renowned bushman of the district and when he passed away his funeral at the Cathedral was widely attended. He was known far and wide for his famous fox bait and his hunting skills.

Anthony remembers fondly, spending time with his grandfather and hearing tales of the olden days around Mount Duval including his pop growing up on the horses and of the old Aboriginal people who came through the district each year. What a wonderful thing to have found.
