Student Voice Surveys
Over the past week, all young men of St James College were surveyed, allowing them to have input into the Teaching and Learning processes at our College.
The Catholic Education Office ‘eXcel’ document states that ‘Student Voice’ is an essential element to creating engaged and resilient learners.
Having a voice can drive a positive learning disposition. Students can become more motivated, confident and engaged learners, able to effectively contribute and adapt to their world.
The goal of our surveys is to explore dialogue between students and staff, to ascertain what 'effective teaching and learning' is. All of this is driven by the constant need to lift student engagement and success across learning areas.
For the Year 7 group, this was their first Teaching and Learning survey.
For Years 8, 9 and 10, they were surveyed to see if they have noticed a difference in their classes and teachers.
All responses were anonymous. This gave the opportunity for students to be honest in their feedback and ideas. The responses were quite insightful and highly valuable as relevant data.
The responses received will be presented to staff as a part of their ongoing Professional Development. Staff will then formulate goals and strategies to further improve their teaching and the learning of students at St James College based on the data received.
