1. UNIT RESULT

The Unit Result refers to the overall assessment for the subject for that semester.

S – Satisfactorily completed: N – Not Satisfactory completed: NA – Not assessed

2. APPROACHES TO LEARNING

Students are assessed: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Acceptable and Needs Attention

Self-Management: This refers to the student’s time management and organisational skills, attendance and punctuality to class, use of the Student Planner, completion and submission of homework and assessment tasks on time.

Initiative: This refers to the student’s work ethic and his / her ability to work independently or stay on task in group work. It also refers to the student’s attitude towards studies. At one end of the scale, a student would be self-driven and directed. At the other end of the scale, a student would be disengaged, continually reliant on teacher direction and motivation in order to complete set tasks.

Cooperation: This refers to a student’s emotional, social and interpersonal skills and ability to work with teachers and other students in a respectful and courteous way.

3. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes are assessed S or N. Students are expected to achieve S for ALL Learning Outcomes.

S - Satisfactory – expected understandings, processes and skills have been demonstrated by the student. This means that all set tasks have been completed.

N - Not Satisfactory – expected nderstandings, rocesses and skills have not been demonstrated by the student. In other words, set tasks have not been completed.

4. ASSESSMENT TASKS

Assessment Tasks may be all or part of a Learning Outcome. Not all of the course work is assessed or graded. All Assessment Tasks are graded according to Criterion based Assessment Sheets that are presented and discussed with students when the Assessment Task is delivered.

In Year 11, Assessment Tasks are graded according to a scale of A+ to E or UG:

A - Demonstrated a very high level of achievement on all criteria

B - Demonstrated a high level of achievement on most criteria

C - Demonstrated a good level of achievement on some criteria

D - Demonstrated a low level of achievement on most criteria

E - Demonstrated a very low level of achievement on most criteria

UG - Ungraded – has not met the standard set by most criteria

N/A - Not Assessed – Assessment Tasks submitted late or not submitted

In Year 12, Assessment Tasks are graded as either:

S – Satisfactory, N – Not satisfactory or NA – Not Assessed

5. COMMENTS

Descriptive comments support the graded assessments. Teacher comments provide a critical reflection of the student’s academic performance and progress in relation to Learning Outcomes.

6. VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) COURSES

Units of Competence for Vocational Training Certificates are graded either:

C – Competent, IP – In Progress or NYC – Not Yet Competent

7. VCAL

Learning Outcomes are graded as either:

S – Satisfactorily Completed, N – Not satisfactory or NYC – Not Yet Competent

Students are assessed: Consistently, Mostly, At Times and Not Yet.
