Year 10 1:1 Computing

Year 10 1:1 Computing

On Thursday 20th October a Parent Information evening was held to ensure parents and students had a clear picture of the Year 10 1:1 computing program at Wantirna College.  This Bring Your Own Device program (BYOD) is the way schools currently make sure there are the right number and style of computers for each student.

We are continuing with this program for all students in Year 10 in 2017. As well as this we are also bringing in a BYOD program for Year 7 students in 2017.

The basis for this program is a parent funded model. Currently all students in Years 10 – 12 have computers and we have seen a remarkable uptake of the use of the technology for these students, and it has had a very positive impact on their learning.

If you and your Year 9 student did not attend the evening and your child did not receive the information booklet given out in class on Wednesday 26 October, then your child will need to see Mr Andrew Lewis, Assistant Principal, to get the material.  The booklet gives all the information required for the program.

One small change we have made is that if parents and students purchase a computer through our preferred supplier, LWT, we will give the computer to the student as soon as it is delivered. Once the student has returned the network access agreement they can start using the College’s network immediately.

If parents wish to use the College’s preferred supplier the link is:

There is also a link on DAYMAP that your child can access.

The windows based computer that we are recommending is an ACER Switch12 Alpha. There are also Apple products available through this portal for Year 10 students.

If you have any questions about the program after reading the booklet please contact Mr Andrew Lewis, after he returns from camp next week.  In the mean time, call the General Office.
