WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

For Week 6 we took an opportunity to dedicate time and respect to National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week. As a service we try our best to incorporate as much Aboriginal and Torres strait islander culture as we can, respectfully.

Some highlights from the week were playing traditional Aboriginal games which translated to similar games that we play in our everyday life with some awesome modifications. These games are called ‘Pulonga’ and ‘Brambhal’ otherwise known as dodgeball and skipping games.

Another highlight was our

Reconciliation Week quiz and Find a Word, which the children worked as individuals or teams. Some of the children learned a lot from this quiz, which was one of our focus goals as a service.

For Week 7, our theme was “save our city!” - we wanted to devote our week to sustainable practices. Some of our highlights were making sustainable art pieces from our recycling bucket. Dima, in particular used his design skills to make himself a new suitcase, in which he decided he would use to travel with once lock down is over.

Another highlight for us was making a card and friendship bracelet for our friend Cash. Cash has been so brave and strong in his recovery and we wanted to tell him just how proud we are with a vibrant card and small gift.

Some of our afternoon tea snacks this week were: carbonara pasta, mango smoothies, blue & pink pancakes and much more.

Upcoming themes: Tokyo Olympics & Buddy Week

Holiday program theme: Full Speed Ahead – Activities include Ice skating excursion, Circus skills incursion, Hot air balloon experiments, Olympic incursion, Movie excursion and more.
