WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you for supporting your children and our school staff this past fortnight. We look forward to seeing our students back at school with their friends and teachers. I am sure you are also happy to see the end of remote learning.

INCLUSION GRANT PROJECT – ACOUSTIC TREATMENT TO DRILL HALL AND DISCOVERY BUILDING

In 2019 the school applied for the Inclusive Schools Grant which we were successful in receiving $200,000 to improve and enhance our teaching and learning spaces. The primary use for this funding has been to add additional acoustic treatment throughout the school, which will make our spaces even more effective for teaching and learning. Works begin in the final week of term, continue in the holidays with the project anticipated to be complete at the end of the first week of Term 3.

SUCCESSFUL GRANT SUBMISSIONS

Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant

We are excited to announce that South Melbourne Park has been a successful recipient of the Woolworths Junior Landcare grant program. We will use these funds ($1000) to support the lunch time garden club so that our students learn about planting, caring, and cultivating foods and native plants.  Mr Andrew Beattie oversees the Monday lunch time garden club and is thrilled to receive these funds.  Many thanks to Yen, parent of of Ethan (3-6H) and Jacob (1/2V) for submitting the grant application on the school’s behalf.

Victorian Schools Garden Program (VSGP) - 2021 Quick Pick Seedlings - Spring Seedling Package

Another successful submission by Yen, VSGP seedling package will support our lunchtime garden club.  It won’t be long before we see vegetables growing in the school garden plant boxes.

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS

The report you receive is the product of considerable effort by many people.  As a reflection of your child’s progress, it is a snapshot of two terms effort.  Generally, the students have worked very hard. It also reflects your support of your child, and again, this is generally very significant and not always stress free!  For the teachers’ part, midyear reports are a tiny summary of the large volume of assessment data they compile each week for every child.  Reports will be ready for downloading on Compass on Thursday June 24.

EARLY DISMISSAL- END OF TERM

Parents are reminded that students will be dismissed at 2:30 pm on Friday June 25.
