From the Executive

This week marks an auspicious occasion on the Mazenod calendar with Founders' Day being celebrated on Friday. Founders' Day is the special time of year where we come together as a community to remember, acknowledge and celebrate the Founding Fathers of Mazenod, the Oblates who established Mazenod College. The Character Strength of Fairness was chosen specifically for this week as the Oblates epitomise justice for all

in their mission. When the Oblates established Mazenod College in 1967, their vocation was to continue the work of St Eugene De Mazenod and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in our society. The idea that all people are entitled to compassion and support is just as relevant in 2021 as we honour their service.

Continuing the spirit of celebration and community, the Year 8 students hosted the annual Grandparents' Day. This was a welcome return as it was one of the many events cancelled last year due to COVID. Following a welcome from Mr Tony Coghlan, students escorted their grandparents on a tour of the school. The day finished with a concert, hosted by Mr Doug Leutchford, and showcased the vast talent of our Year 8 musicians. Special thanks to all staff involved in organising the entertainment, catering and organisational logistics for a highly enjoyable morning. Click here for some of the photos from the two days.

Finally, the Semester One exams are nearly upon us and now is the time for students to begin their preparations. Last week, students in Years 8 and 9 were given their Exam Timetables and Homeroom Teachers facilitated examples of how to set up a revision timetable, to assist our younger students.
