Community News

Last Tuesday morning we had some preschool students come and join us for a story time session at our school. This is a great opportunity for some of our future prep children to experience what school is like and also find out a bit more about St Kevin’s. The children enjoyed listening to a story about Elmer the elephant and his walking experience with his friends and then created their own patchwork elephant.

We were lucky enough to have some Grade 6 students come and work with the children helping them with the art activity.

If you, or anyone you know is interested in joining us in the school library for our next story time on Thursday 17th June @2.30pm - 3.30pm please let me know via email:

Play Therapy Now at St Kevin's!

Dear parents and carers or St Kevin’s Catholic School,

My name is Laura and I am a Clinical Play Therapist and Clinical Social Worker. I am now offering Play Therapy services to the children and families of St Kevin’s Catholic School onsite one day a week.

Play Therapy is suitable for children aged 3-12 years and it can help children work through a range of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Whilst adults 'talk things out' to make sense of difficult feelings and challenging experiences, children are built to 'play things out' instead. So, instead of taking place in an office like talk therapy for adults, Play Therapy takes place in a playroom, filled with toys and other play materials, to help children express and explore themselves in the best way they know how - through play.

Play Therapy can help children and families address a range of issues, including; difficulties with friendships or managing big emotions, challenges with transitions and settling back into school, making sense of changes, increasing confidence and building self-esteem, strengthening parent-child and sibling relationships, managing anxiety and depression and healing from traumatic experiences.

If you are interested to know more, please speak to your child’s teacher or get in touch with me on 0402 961 826.

Thank you,

Laura Rosenberg
