Un voyage d'échange

Students on exchange from France

Who would have imagined that 10 of us would have travelled all around the world to come to Melbourne? I am so pleased to be part in this adventure with my friends and your incredible teachers. We are so lucky to discover all sort of new ways of living, different food and especially a different type of schooling. Being near the city is fantastic, Melbourne offers a mixture of different modern cultures and beautiful buildings like the State Library or the National Gallery of Victoria. Moreover, the country is rich in not so well known sports in Europe like cricket and footy.

Because of its people, its weather and much else, Australia is a beautiful country, if you forget vegemite, the snakes, and everything that can kill you! - Celine
I juggle with vegemite, kangaroos, and people’s kindness. - Aubin
Can’t wait for the cooking lesson! - Ana
I loved visiting the city and all the museums. I have discovered so many animals. People were really nice to us (but I was a little bit disappointed that there weren’t kangaroos in the school). - Eva
Thanks you all for the kindness, and thanks for letting us eat in the library. - Ilies
I really enjoy NHS and this sunny weather… I went to the sea, to tan in the sun. Now, I have a sunburn. Seriously, I’m so happy to be here. Thank you so much. #peanutbutterintortilla #peanutforever - Jade
If high school is like ice skating, well I understand why my chin has stiches. “I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day” this sentence is a good representation of Australia and my host family. - Margot
The lessons are very different from lessons in France. I could not imagine that professors could baked pancakes during lessons before coming to NHS. (thanks history of revolutions) - Philippine
Australia is cool but vegemite isn’t: RIP my taste buds. Thank you for letting me stay in NHS, and thank you Laila Keel for hosting me for a month. - Raquel
If you still did not notice, I am sorry to tell you, but Vegemite is not good and it is not because I did not prepare it well! - Vincent

We feel very welcomed by Northcote High School and I think I can safely say that we were all pleasantly surprised by the short school days, the number of subjects to choose from and the relaxed atmosphere in Australian classes. Your teachers are willing to establish a nice and fun work relationship in class. They even give you snacks during the lessons and smile at your jokes! Your teachers look happier than ours. Also, I always found it a shame that we cannot chose our own subjects in France. Here at NHS, students have so many choices: art, creative writing, cooking lessons. That sounds crazy for a French student.

Finally, we are so grateful and happy to spend a month with you. And we are looking forward to

welcome the NHS exchange students next summer in France our marvellous country.
