Food studies: pizza and high tea

Year 7s enjoying their homemade pizza

Year 7

As we wrap up the semester year 7’s reflected on the productions that they have made.

It seems pizza wins hands down and all decided that homemade is far better than purchased. No excuse - we have supplied the recipe for your child to whip up the family favourite:

Quick Pizza Dough

1 cup plain flour

1 teaspoon yeast

½ teaspoon sugar

½ cup warm water

1 tablespoon oil

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200 c
  2. Combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Leave in warm place to activate yeast.
  3. Sift flour. Add yeast mixture and oil
  4. Combine and knead until smooth
  5. Roll onto a lightly greased tray.
  6. Place on your favourite toppings.

Year 10

As part of The Catering Challenge the students investigated the art of preserving. They were required to   research the importance of sterilizing the jar and developing the pectin to ensure setting.  After a busy morning they were able to enjoy a high tea.
