News

Congratulations to Sophie, Lilyana and Olivia who are undertaking their Reconciliation this Wednesday night.

Literacy

Students will do a speech later this week on renewable energy. All students will be doing a speech to a teacher in a small group situation. On Friday, some students will be selected to do their speech in front of the Lions Club judges. This will flow into a letter to Helen Haines on renewable energy. Literacy Circles have continued as students get deeper into their novels. Your student is reading one of the books in the photo below.

Maths

Patterns and Algebra have continued this week. Many students are working on noticing number patterns and identifying missing values in a number sentence.

For example, 4 x ? = 95 - 15. We are also trying to place some importance on number sense and fluency at the start of each maths lesson. Without basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills, students are finding difficult concepts hard to grasp.

Religion

Late last week, students took a piece of Scripture that involved Prayer and created an art wall using a word or phrase from the Scripture. The challenge was to find a word or phrase that related to Prayer as they know it.

Inquiry

We will spend the last two weeks on our small group project. Students will put together a timeline of critical moments in Australian democracy history that have impacted the rights of Indigenous Australians, women or workers. They will also answer a question on the importance of equality.
