Building Project Update
Term 3 Update
Right now, the construction is finishing off the exterior cladding and has moved indoors. Windows are in and plasterboard is going up as we see the shapes of the new custom designed areas appear. The Senior School Hub has a marvelous skylight that has been installed which will flood the open plan area with loads of natural light. Soon the new buildings will change the school completely. The Junior School Hub will be a generous space for the new students entering secondary school for the first time to transition smoothly, with modern learning areas around a communal hub with the Year Level Leader and Coordinator in the center. With the Wellbeing Centre now located off the Admin building we will have four consultation/calming rooms and sensory retreat spaces for the students to use.
Emergency Management Update
Western Port Secondary College conducts emergency drills each term to familiarize staff and students with what to do, so they become competent in staying safe. Our drills include emergency evacuation to the athletics track, lockdown, shelter in place and emergency evacuation to our bus bay area. Whilst conducting these drills no visitors are allowed to arrive on-site, and the phones are not answered. If you are at the school at the time of a drill, you will be included in the drill and moved to safety with other visitors.
