Senior School Update

Years 10 - 12

Assistant Principal's Update

Laura Higgins

As we reflect on the journey of Term Three so far, we are thrilled to share the amazing highlights and opportunities that unfolded in Senior School. From academic achievement to enrichment experiences, this term was indeed a time of growth and enrichment.

Year 11 Oral Presentations

Our students showcased their impressive communication skills and shared their knowledge during the Year 11 oral presentations. Their insightful perspectives captivated their peers and demonstrated their growth. Students were required to have a point of view presented in oral form using sound arguments and persuasive language. The point of view should relate to an issue that has appeared in the media since 1 September of the previous year.

Monash Experiences and VTAC Hacks

Throughout the term, we had the privilege of partnering with Monash University. Access Monash experiences, including campus visits, provided invaluable insights into university life.

Our students also gained essential VTAC hacks, streamlining their application process. We have a great relationship with Monash University as a partner in their Schools Access Monash program; a program of activities that aims to encourage and inform students' aspirations to higher education.

Western Port Senior School students have the opportunity to engage in higher education, experience campus life, and make informed decisions for their future.

Year 11 Outdoor Ed Kayak Day Trip

The picturesque landscapes of Warrandyte served as the backdrop for an exhilarating kayak day trip enjoyed by our Year 11 students. They navigated the waters, embraced challenges, and created lasting memories.

Year 11 PE St Kilda AFL Program

Year 11 PE students had the opportunity to network with the St Kilda Football Club community. They were able to assess, challenge and improve their football skills by being involved in a 6 week program that focuses on skill and confidence development and high-performance themes at the elite level. Students are able to share their experiences with the local community and possibly join local football clubs with a newfound confidence in the sport. They developed key knowledge of how the musculoskeletal system works together to produce movement and break down energy for physical activity will link in with the practical component of the program, allowing for a better understanding of key knowledge and better application of key skills.

VET Active Volunteering at Dromana Community Centre

Making a positive impact on the community, our students actively volunteered at Dromana Community Centre through the VET program. Their efforts exemplified our commitment to giving back.

Reach Foundation Meeting

The Reach Foundation met with our Year 11 students, inspiring meaningful conversations and empowering them to be agents of positive change. The insights gained will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.

Students receive a WorkSafe White Card, First Aid, Traffic Controller Skill Set and receive training and certification in Rail Safety Awareness (SARC).

Marine College Engineering Information Session

An insightful information session explored the realm of marine engineering. Students were exposed to innovation and exploration in the maritime world.
