Yaama Ganu,
Last week saw us celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander children’s day. This date was chosen in 1988 as a date of significance for those children of the stolen generation, who where / are without birthdays or connections to family. We took the opportunity to celebrate all of those children, to celebrate their bravery and resilience in the face of adversity, whilst remembering their struggle, we also celebrated their strength and them, all of them.
In the classroom the last few weeks the children have been learning Gamilaraay each Friday. We have learnt to use our Gawugaa (head) and our bina’s (ears) to learn all the parts of our bana (body) aswell as learning a song!
This week we will start on our Dhiiyaan- Family in the k-3 room and in the senior class we will be starting on our gagan- Colours!
There is always a lot happening within our walls!
As always- if you need anything school related or otherwise, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
