Assistant Principals' Report

It is another busy start to the term. We are now in week 8 and students have settled into their new Semester classes. The Year 7s have been at our College for over 100 days, Year 8 to 10 have been busy making informed subject preferences for next year, Year 11 and 12 are immersed in Unit 2 and 4 studies.

On Tuesday 18th of July, we held our Subject Expo and Futures Fair. There were several informative resources and discussions with teachers from each subject area, as well as providers of tertiary programs and courses in attendance. Students and parents/carers in attendance had in depth discussions about subjects and pathways and the evening was an important element of the series of opportunities provided to our students to assist them to make informed subject choices.

The current Year 10 students had Course Counselling interviews on Thursday 27th of July. Students currently in Year 9 were supported through an involved course selection process by reviewing their Morrisby report and Career Action Plan on Tuesday 1st of August. The College subject handbooks are a valuable resource and can be found on our website.

We would highly recommend that if any student or parent requires further information or clarification on these matters, please contact our Senior School Leader, Anthony Ellul. Good luck to all our students whilst meeting with teachers to discuss their subjects and career opportunities.

Bus Passes

Students who catch the Greensborough Bus 1 and Bus 2 that leave from the school grounds are contracted by the Department of Education and are run by Diamond Coaches.  To travel on these buses, students need to fill out an application and pay a term fare of $125 for each term.  They will then be issued with a bus pass that will allow them on to travel on these buses for the term.

Students who have not completed the application form and who have not paid are not allowed to travel on the bus.  From Week 4 of Term 5, there have been checks to ensure that the students who travel on the bus have the appropriate permission to use the bus.  If they do not, they will be asked to not use the bus and they will need use alternative means to get home as they are not authorised by the school or their parents to use this transport.

If any families would like to use this bus service, they are welcome to contact the office to make the necessary arrangements.

Uniform and Hoodies

The school would like to thank the students and their families for not wearing hoodies to school and understanding the reasons why they have been banned.  Hoodies are not to be worn in any circumstances at school.  This includes hoodies being worn under jumpers or jackets.

If a student is wearing a hoodie, they will be asked to remove it and an appropriate consequence will be issued.

The expectation is for students to be wearing the correct school uniform, full academic or PE uniform depending on their subjects for the day.  If a student is coming to school not in uniform, they are to bring a note to get a uniform pass. The alternative item of clothing is not to be a hoodie.

Thank you again for your continuing support and cooperation in upholding the uniform policy at Greensborough College. We appreciate your efforts in ensuring that our students wear their uniforms with pride and respect.
