Chelsea's Seat Project

Late last year a new seat was installed out the front of the school, near gate 2. This seat was kindly donated and installed in memory of former student Chelsea, by her parents.

Last week we were fortunate to have Bunnings come to our school and work with our Transition students to pave around the seat and plant some flowers in pots next the seat. Students had big smiles on their faces working with pride and using the gardening tools; they dug holes, used a wheel borrow to move dirt and pavers, lifted lots of pavers, and got their hands dirty preparing the soil for the plants.

Thank you to Karen O'Shea for organising Bunnings to visit and assist with this project. This area looks beautiful, and many students are making the most of their time sitting on the comfortable seat while waiting for their bus at the end of the school day.

Hoodie and Dance Party Day

Our Student School Council are busily organising a couple of fun events for this term. Wednesday 16 August will be Hoodie and Dance Party Day where students have the opportunity to wear their favourite hoodie and other casual clothes and join in some fun dance activities. The Student Council are asking students to bring in a gold coin donation on the day to raise money for a charity; the charity is currently being decided. See the Notices and Flyers section of the newsletter for further information.

Term 3 Community Event - Footy Day

The other Student School Council organised activity for this term is a community event, Footy Colours Day. This will be on Wednesday 13 September, (last week of term 3). Our student leaders and Engagement Professional Learning Team are currently planning various football themed activities for this day.

School Review Report

Following our school review last term, we have now received a report. The report captures the review panel findings which is affirming as it echoes the themes from student, staff and parent voice during the forums we held earlier in the year. Our school highlights over the past few years have been our work on SWPBS, communication, student regulation activities and resources, and community engagement. It was identified some of our previous targets were achieved, while others were partially achieved.

We have now set two new overarching goals: 'Improving student learning outcomes' and 'strengthening student wellbeing and engagement across the school community'. As a school community, we'll be working on these goals for school improvement over the next 4 years.
