Level Foundation

This week in Foundation TD ….

In Maths, the students are learning about capacity, mass and data collection.  The students predicted how many glasses of water would fill the container. The students took turns in pouring the water and discovered the volume of the container was equal to 30 cups.  The students compared the mass of different objects like, Lego, wooden dominoes, and playdough and compared which is heavy and light.  The students collected data and created a T-graph based on their observations with different materials.

In Literacy, the students are learning to expand their sentences by adding who/what/where/why along with using conjunctions such as ‘but, and, because’, etc. The students used sequencing cards to develop their oral literacy by focusing on the 5 finger-retell strategy and identifying the structure of the story (characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end) and they shared their stories with their peers during reading groups. The students worked in small groups to retell, narrate and enact the ‘Three Billy Goat Gruff’ story, in sequence using puppets they created.

The students enjoyed their friendology sessions where they role-played introducing themselves to their fuzzy friends while learning how to make new friends. In Inquiry this term the students are exploring different textures.  The students made playdough, they measured and mixed different ingredients with the help of their buddies. Proud FTD students celebrated receiving the ‘Nude Food Friday’ award for the fourth time. Thank you to our green thumb inspectors (Ishan and Nabeel) and all the parents for their support.
